Early spring traveling on Rt. 87 Lebanon this day by car to the darkroom at Photosynthesis but my mind wanders to my youth as I would ride this road on my bike with friends from Coventry we would set out to explore sometimes riding 20 – 30 miles in a day. A new pond to skip rocks across, streams and big hills to race down fearless immortal kids. Fifty years later to the Lab, ten or so years ago to The Centennial Theater for summer theater dress rehearsal in Simsbury to photograph.
Yesterday hoping for an image or two between the rain drops or on the way back to chase the Golden Hour of late light. But there was no between the raindrops or Golden Hour. There was a visit with Carl and Maarit that made the sun shine within and the conversation with Tiana sharing her youth and dreams with us three sharing stories of youth and dreams. I told her I never thought I would be photographing barns but now as I think of being a kid in Coventry playing in haylofts the circle seems obvious. enjoy pjc

Early Spring the first few warm days and the early buds begin to peek from there winter capsules. Small points of orange, brown, yellow and red dot the hillside with an impressionistic glow during the golden hour.

Tulips bubs poke out and up drinking the morning dew, soon they will explode like the roman candle of spring. Colors and buds continue to appear as the later blooming trees begin, the palette changes daily toward trees becoming green and providing a deep summer shade.

Then full blown plants these on the early side in Manchester. One of the great things about Connecticut is you can for weeks travel through all three of spring sonnets in a single day trip. On Monday I drove from Norwich, mid spring up route 87 to Franklin, Lebanon early spring on to Manchester for the beginning of late spring. I am a big fan of seasons and love spring the first season of the year, the first circle. enjoy pjc

Another image from the fishing fleet in Galilee RI. Two years since I have been there perhaps another look later this year. Been a lot in the news regarding the “fishing industry” it looks like another blow against small independents. I admit I haven’t followed the story well. Here is an article from The Huffington Post regarding over fished areas and the system of controlled marketing of fish. “One fish two fish red fish blue fish.” Dr Suess. Or how the Marine Stewardship Council rates fisheries. There are links in article to Washington Post piece and other opinions on over fishing.
